Charles Hecker is the author of Zero Sum: The Arc of International Business in Russia, published in the UK by Hurst and in the US by Oxford University Press. Prior to that, he was a partner at Control Risks, the specialist, international risk consultancy. At Control Risks he was managing partner of the firm’s Moscow office and co-leader of its global geopolitical risk consultancy. For two years, he was a reporter in Russia for The Moscow Times. He has degrees in Soviet Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, and is a fluent Russian speaker.
